In another public embarrassment for the Obama Administration, there has been another Secret Service Officer arrested.
Aaron Francis Engler, the Secret Service Officer arrested in Miami, was allegedly passed out drunk on a sidewalk in Miami.
Engler was in Miami as part of the advance team for President Barack Obama’s visit to the University of Miami on Thursday.
He allegedly became combative when officers tried to rouse him from his drunken slumber.
ABC News reports that the arresting officer noted in his report,
… started arguing with me and throwing his arms around while I was conducting a pat down. At this point motorists traveling in the area were stopping to watch his actions.
After the drunken secret service officer was handcuffed, police went through his personal items and discovered that he was with the Secret Service.
He was arrested and charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest without violence.
ABC reports that a spokesperson for the Secret Service pointed out that Engler is a member of the uniformed division of the agency and not assigned to presidential protection.
Does it really matter that Engler was not “assigned to Presidential protection”. He’s a secret Service Officer and is supposed to behave appropriately on and off the job.
It seems that the Secret Service, under the Obama Administration, has a penchant for partying.
In only April of this year, 9 members of the elite Secret Service were recalled after they were carousing with prostitutes instead of providing security for President Obama.
That whole incident became public after one of the agents allegedly refused to pay a prostitute.
After that embarrassment, The Washington Post reported that Edwin Donovan, an agency spokesman, said that an unspecified number of agents have been recalled and replaced with others, stressing that Obama’s security has not been compromised because of the change.
Will there be yet another public embarrassment before the year is up?
