Although the age of consent in Nevada is 16, that has no bearing in this case since Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 201.550 prohibits sexual contact between students and school employees. There is an exception if the teacher and school employee are married and if the student is 18 years of older.
The unnamed student’s parents became suspicious at the volume of text exchanged and reported it. During the investigation, police found nude pictures of both the teenage girl and Hernandez. They also found pictures of the two engaging in sexual acts.
The former Silverado high school softball coach was fired after his arrest.
Why are so many teachers and others in authority figures at schools getting involved with students?
Teachers are there to teach; coaches are there to coach! It’s gotten to the point that even teachers that are not guilty of anything are wary about being close to any of their students because they do not want it to be taken the wrong way.
Parents are ultra suspicious if a student talks about a teacher too much.
Many times the teacher is truly trying to just help but because of a number of teacher that apparently have little self-control, it is shining an unfavorable light on teachers in general/
Once Hernandez’ bail is posted, he will be placed on house arrest.
Hernandez’ next court date is June 19.
