SANTA ANA, Calif. — Alberto Florez Ramirez preyed on vulnerable women he met online and now faces 75- years to life in a California State prison for his crimes.
His first known victim was an unidentified 49-year-old woman from Las Vegas. The victim met Alberto Flores Ramirez on Facebook. As their online relationship progressed they communicated via text messages. Ramirez offered to perform a “spiritual cleansing” on the woman to help her with her love life and convinced her to travel to California.
She brought a friend with her and they traveled by bus to California in February 2012 to meet Ramirez. He instructed the victim to buy items for the cleansing that included eggs and ammonia and took the two woman to a motel in Santa Ana, Calif.
While her friend waited outside, Ramirez instructed the 49-year-old woman to remove her clothes. She laid down on the bed as instructed and he poured ammonia on her head. She became disoriented and was raped and forcibly orally copulated as she struggled to get away.
The second victim, a 33-year-old unidentified woman from California, met Ramirez through an online dating website.
He convinced her to meet with him for a spiritual cleansing that would help bring her children from Mexico to California. He said he would rid her of “Negative vibes” and they met at a McDonald’s in Santa Ana, Calif., on April 3, 2012.
After checking into a motel, the same motel he has used previously to rape the Las Vegas victim, he had the victim undress and rubbed raw eggs on her body. He fondled her and then jumped on her as she struggled to get away. She was restrained, digitally penetrated, raped and forcibly orally copulated.
After the sexual assault, Ramirez drove the victim back to her car. As soon as she drove away from the parking lot she called 911 and the Santa Ana Police Department responded and investigated the case.
One week later on April 10, 2012, Ramirez drove to a Santa Ana parking lot with the intention of meeting the victim again and was arrested..
The case received widespread media coverage which prompted the Las Vegas victim to come forward.
On April 22, 2014, Alberto Flores Ramirez was found guilty of two felony counts each of forcible rape and forcible oral copulation. He was also found guilty of one felony count each of sexual penetration by foreign object by force, attempted forcible oral copulation, and received a sentencing enhancement for sex crimes against multiple victims.
Alberto Flores Ramirez is scheduled to appear in court for sentencing on June 13, 2014.
