It has been confirmed by the San Diego Sheriff that he is dead. DiMaggio was reportedly shot and killed by an FBI tactical unit.
The good news is that Hanna Anderson, 15 is safe and has been transported to a hospital.
Anderson’s mother, Christine Anderson and her brother 8-year-old Ethan, were found dead in a home located near San Diego on Sunday.
The house, owned by DiMaggio, was on fire and DiMaggio was on the run.
It is believed that DiMaggio, a close family friend of Hannah Anderson’s parents had developed some type of fixation on her. He has known her since she was 6 months old, according to her father, Brett Anderson.
The Anderson’s were estranged and DiMaggio continued his close relationship with the family. The children reportedly thought of him as an uncle.
Although Brett Anderson has said he did not see or hear of anything inappropriate going on, Hannah was uncomfortable with DiMaggio.
Hannah had been away, apparently alone, with DiMaggio and had cut their vacation short because of the way he was acting.
He reportedly told her that he had a crush on her and that, if he was younger, he would want to be her boyfriend.
One of Hannah’s friends has said that Hannah was “creeped out” by DiMaggio and did not want to be alone with him.
DiMaggio is thought to have lured Christine, Hannah and Ethan Anderson to his home under the pretense of saying goodbye to them since he said he had accepted work in Texas.
It will certainly be a rough time for Hannah Anderson dealing with the loss of her mother and brother. Fortunately her father is available to help her work through it.
