Jerry Sandusky will be sentenced Tuesday and it is expected that he will declare that he is innocent even though he has already been found guilty on 45 counts.
Sandusky makes recording from jail proclaiming his innocence and pointing the finger at his victims.
In the rambling recording he also stated that he didn’t have sex with his wife until after they were married.
The jailhouse recording points an accusatory finger at his victims claiming he was only trying to help them through his charity.
He said,
They can take away my life, they can make me out as a monster, they can treat me as a monster, but they can’t take away my heart.
The convicted pedophile also said,
A young man who was dramatic, a veteran accuser, and always sought attention, started everything.
He went on to say,
He was joined by a well orchestrated effort of the media, investigators, the system, Penn State, psychologists, civil attorneys and other accusers. They won. I’ve wondered what they really won: Attention, financial gain, prestige… will all be temporary. Before you blame me, as others have, look at everything and everybody.
Sandusky, the former Penn State defensive Coordinator, faces anywhere from 10 years to more than 400 years in prison when he receives his sentence Tuesday.
Since Sandusky is 68, any sentence more than a few years is in effect a death sentence.
Both Sandusky and his many victims will will have the opportunity to make statements at the sentencing hearing.
Sandusky is expected to speak at the hearing.
He apparently wants to be heard.
His attorney, Joe Amendola said that Sandusky regrets that he did not take the stand during his trial to defend himself.
If he voices sentiments similar to his jail house recording, the court will likely take his statement into account in determining the length of his prison sentence.
Sandusky apparently showing no remorse, is expected to receive a long prison sentence.
