A deadly Las Vegas multi vehicle car crash kills one.
The accident occurred at close to midnight on the south eastern part of town at Boulder Highway and Russell Road.
At least 5 vehicles were involved in the crash according to 13ActionNews.
One person was thrown from the automobile and pronounced dead at the scene. Five others were taken to local area hospitals with non life threatening injuries.
It does not appear that drug or alcohol were involved. The cause of the multi vehicle car crash is being attributed to the failure of one driver who did not yield to a stop sign.
An unrelated hit and run occurred only days ago in an area very nearby at Boulder Highway and Harmon Avenue that resulted in the death of one person.
Fatalities in the Las Vegas area have been frighteningly high this year.
In February of this year, there were 19 fatalities resulting from accidents.
The Las Vegas multi vehicle car crash bring the cumulative total up to a alarming total of 64.
It almost seems that every time you turn on the news, there is news of yet another fatality.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has been urging both drivers and pedestrians to be extra alert and obey the traffic laws.
Although Nevada prohibits the use of handheld devices while driving, they still urged drivers and pedestrians alike to “get your face out of your phone” in an attempt to promote awareness.
After a fatal accident in late 2011 last year involving a pedestrian, Sgt. Richard Strader with Metro’s fatal detail said,
“We’ve done everything we can, and now we just need to educate the public. And the public just needs to use common sense. I’m talking about pedestrians and I’m talking about those drivers, and pay attention. It’s all our responsibility to keep our community safe
It’s a message that can save lives and certainly worth repeating again and again. It’s everyone’s responsibility.
