It’s a great concept but, for now, the Las Vegas X Train project is on hold.
There was a lot of fanfare announcing the Las Vegas X Train project
Better known as the “Party Train”, the X Train had plans to operate rail service from Fullerton, Calif. to Las Vegas.
And they said they were going to do it in style.
Comfortable seating, big screen TVs, Ultra Lounges and plenty of booze, those traveling to Vegas could begin their vacation as soon as they stepped aboard the train.
Rider who chose to travel on the Las Vegas X Train from Fullerton to Las Vegas would be immersed in a nightclub on wheels, indulging in Vegas style food and staying connected with the world via wifi.
And in typical Vegas style, those with cash could purchase upgrades including renting private cars for bachelor parties and other private events.
As soon as guests stepped off the train, there would be cabs, shuttles and even private limos waiting to whisk visitors off to their hotels.
All for only $99 each way for the nearly 6 hour trip.
But it’s not going to happen. At least not for a while. And certainly not by their targeted date of New Year’s Eve.
Las Vegas Railway Express recently announced that the X Train has terminated it’s agreement with Union Pacific and announced they are moving forward with an alternate financing plan.
President and CEO Michael Barron insists that the project is not dead and claims that the alternative financing would allow them to continue to move forward with their plans and the company remains in operation.
