The NYPD will arrest David Villalobos for Brooklyn Zoo Tiger Den jump. That’s what they are saying as of this moment.
David Villalobos, 25, from Mahopac, NY obviously has some issues, likely mental ones, and Police seem to agree however they say they still will arrest David Villalobos for Brooklyn Zoo Tiger Den jump.
What truly sane person willingly jumps off of an electric monorail ride at the Bronx Zoo and over an approximately 16 foot high electric fence to get into the Tiger Den at the Bronx Zoo?
That exactly what David Villalobos did on Friday.
At approximately 3 pm on Friday, Villalobos was on the monorail type of train that has open sides. The train takes visitors over the Bronx River along the top edge of a fence which goes past the tiger enclosure.
His jump might very well have been preplanned, rather than a spur of the moment action, since his jump cleared the high electric fence.
According to statements Villalobos made to the NYPD, he was not trying to commit suicide.
Instead he said that wanted to be, “one with the tiger”.
According to what Villalobos has said, it appears he has realized some of his desires. He says that he landed on all fours, recalls being dragged by his foot and claims that afterwards he was able to pet the tiger.
It appears that all safety precautions were followed and rescuers at the Zoo were able to get the tiger away from Villalobos who was then instructed to roll under a hot wire to safety. The rescuers had used powerful hoses to distract the 11 year old tiger, Bachuta.
Villalobos is in stable condition at the Jacobi Medical Center. There are some unconfirmed reports circulating that say he has lost one of his legs although his family is not providing any information at this time.
Brooklyn Zoo Director, Jim Breheny summed it best when he told reporters,
I think it’s safe to say that if the tiger really wanted to do harm to this individual, he certainly would have had time to do that.
His facebook page has numerous references to “ones”, “Mother Earth” , religion and the galaxy.
His friends say that he has been acting strange lately and he has received some messages of support.
In light of his mental issues, should the NYPD arrest David Villalobos for Brooklyn Zoo Tiger Den jump?
He also asked one of his facebook friends to help him take nude photos for an art project,
The NYPD will arrest David Villalobos for Brooklyn Zoo Tiger Den jump and some are questioning if they should since seems so obviously disturbed.
The situation could have turned out very differently if it were not for the quick actions of rescuers at the Zoo.
