A sex trafficker from Las Vegas, who has the word “Pimp” tattooed on his neck has received a small prison stint.
Michael Gladson, 32, traveled from Las Vegas to Anchorage, Alaska with another man and three women in July, 2010.
Prosecutors allege that Gladson, known as “Mickey Vegas”, paid cash for himself and three women to fly to Anchorage. They also have records that he paid for hotel rooms for two of the three women and his credit card was used to advertise the services of the women on internet sites craiglist and backpage.com.
There is a thriving, though under reported, underground sex trade in Alaska.
Police officers, who regularly surf the internet to uncover crimes, conducted a sting operation and Gladson was arrested.
The Anchorage Daily Times reports that when he was arrested, Gladson has $10,000 in cash in on him. There were also allegations by one of the women that he hit her on the head.
Prosecutors said the judge in the case characterized Gladson as a long-time sex trafficker who was living off the earnings of the women.
Somehow, someway, he cut a deal and was sentenced to only a year and a half in prison.
Gleason denied hurting one of the women.
He claims that he entered into the relationship voluntarily with the women and further said that he was in a relationship with one of the women.
He was planning on getting married to the woman he was in a relationship with.
Court filings on Gadson’s behalf also state that he did not function as a “traditional pimp” .
He simply provided assistance to women that chose the prostitution lifestyle.
Mickey Vegas, the possible long-time sex trafficker with the word “”Pimp” tattooed on his neck, will serve a year and a half in jail.
