Chronicles of longtime identical twin con men | Part Four Meredith Gavin meets one of the Gann Twins

Simon Gann and Jordan Gann have continued to victimize people and probably did not count on encountering someone like Meredith Gavin.

Gavin and her friend were victimized by one of the Gann Brothers.

She had moved to Tampa, FL in 2003 with 3 friends and was in Orlando training for a new job when she encountered one of the Gann Twins. He went by the name Simon Wilkes, a known alias of Jordan Gann.

Posing as Wilkes, he told Gavin and her friend, Melissa Gleason, that he sold his rights to cancer research to a drug company for millions of dollars and wanted to splurge on them.

He even produced a letter on Fidelity Financial stationery as proof of his recent sale, which police later learned had been made from a handout.

They were so impressed by his facade that they took him back to Tampa with them. He seemed likeable.

Gavin apparently spent just 4 days under Gann’s spell and in that short time, she and her friends spent approximately $1,000 on him; buying him clothing, meals and CD’s.

There were some red flags like the continual mooching and his ever-changing stories but he seemed to expertly talk his way out of any inconsistencies.

He even took the girls to a car dealership saying he was going to buy them new cars.

Gavin then drove Gann from Tampa back to his hotel in Orlando. If you think about it, if Simon Wilke was so rich, why didn’t he hire a driver, take a limo or simply rent a luxury vehicle?

Apparently her roommate became suspicious and told Gavin not to let the mystery man out of her sight after her internet search could not find anything about the alleged Doctor’s research.

Gavin had parked her car at his hotel in Orlando but was in a tow away zone. She had to move it and Gann would not accompany her.  As soon as she went to move the car, he gave her the slip and disappeared, which she recollects she knew he would.

She will certainly never forget the Gann brothers because she now has a child, a beautiful son Liam, who had been diagnosed with Asperger’s, and believes one of the Gann Twins is the father.

It seems likely that Jordan Gann would be the father since Florida is a favorite stomping ground for him but, in truth, Gavin is not really sure if the father is Simon Gann or Jordan Gann and even more confusingly, Simon Gann keeps in touch with her.

Some may question why these women stay in touch with Simon Gann and Jordan after being scammed by them.

Meredith Gavin and her friend immediately notified police after Gann absconded.

He was charged with misdemeanor petty theft under the name Simon Wilkes, but the charge was dismissed.

Both Meredith Gavin and Melissa Gleason decided that they were going to fight back.
