Imagine waking up to find a stranger standing over your bed or in your doorway. That’s exactly what happened to two Las Vegas women at the Copper Sands complex, on Flamingo Road near Cimarron Road
Fortunately the robber and sexual predator has been arrested.
Joe Lamrenje, the suspect arrested in two attacks at the southwest Las Vegas condo, faces charges of attempted sexual assault with a deadly weapon, battery with a deadly weapon, burglary with a deadly weapon and sexually motivated coercion with force.
The first incident occurred on July 19. The victim was staying at her boyfriend’s apartment and awoke to find a man standing in the bedroom’s doorway. her dogs started barking and the suspect fled the apartment along with her purse.
The second incident occurred Tuesday, July 24th when police responded at approximately 3:30am after a 25 year old woman reported being attacked. She was sleeping, along with her 2 year old child in the room, and awoke to being kissed on the mouth.
She quickly realized the man on top of her was not her husband and he told her, “If you don’t fight, you won’t get hurt”. She fought back and,was hit in the head with a kitchen grinder. The suspect fled. She was injured in the attack and required at least 6 stitches.
The day after the second incident, the Las Vegas Metro Police Department, learned of the incident that occurred the previous week. Victim #2 had been receiving multiple calls from a phone number she did not recognize.
The Las Vegas Review journal reports that the enterprising woman used an Internet service to trace the phone calls to Joe Lamrenje. Police later found Lamrenje matched the physical descriptions given by both women.
Lamrenje has a prior criminal record for gross and open lewdness in 2004 and has used multiple names aliases including Joe Wamrenje and Johnny Lamrenje.
