Judges selected Randi Sundquist, who attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as a journalism and media studies major Miss Greater as Miss Nevada 2012. The beautiful 22-year-old Elko, NV native will represent the Silver State on Jan. 12 at the 2013 Miss America Pageant at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
Even at the young age of 22, Randi Sundquist is a seasoned veteran in the beauty pageant world. Before winning the Miss Nevada title, Randy held the title of Miss Southern Counties. Randi also has held the title of Miss Summerlin 2011 and Miss Greater Las Vegas 2010.
Her personal experience of being bullied has inspired her platform of “Preventing Youth Violence and Bullying.” She graduated UNLV with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Media Studies and a minor in Entertainment Management.
Randi won the state competition against 11 hopefuls at the Casablanca Casino Resort in Mesquite. It was her second attempt at the title. Last year, she placed as the third runner-up to Alana Lee, who as Miss Nevada 2011 presented the crown to Randi.
Just last month, Randi Sundquist, attended the first fundraiser Up Kids! a local, Las Vegas non-profit organization that raises awareness of the ‘artistic abilities of children with Autism, Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities raising funds for Up Camp!, a visual and performing arts camp for children with intellectual disabilities.
Randi was honored to be a part of the first fund raiser and said,
I am honored to be a part of such a dynamic organization. I truly believe in the artistic abilities and the creative expression of children with intellectual disabilities and when I take the stage for the Miss Nevada Pageant; the Up Kids! kids that I have met will certainly be an inspiration.
