Virginia teen Alexis Murphy was last seen in the early evening of Aug. 3 at a gas station not too far from her home.
Murphy was on her way to shop and to get her hair done for a school portrait.
Three days later, her white Nissan Maxima was found in a movie theater parking lot in Charlottesville, located more than 35 miles from Murphy’s home.
Since that time, her white iPhone has been found, although no further details have been released,
Like many other teens, Murphy used her cell phone frequently so the phone may provide valuable clues into her disappearance.
Although her body has not been found, police arrested Randy Taylor on Aug. 11, in connection with Murphy’s disappearance.
He has since been indicted on an abduction charge and an unrelated possession of a stolen vehicle charge.
Taylor is also suspected in the disappearance of another teenage girl, Samantha Clark, 19 who was last seen with Taylor.
Taylor has admitted to seeing Murphy on the night of her disappearance and claims that another man was present inside his camper who sipped Icehouse beer and smoked marijuana.
He has also claimed that Murphy asked him for drugs.
That person that Taylor described has been located, although authorities say that Taylor remains the prime suspect.
Investigators continue their search for Murphy’s body and have asked hunters in the central Virginia area to keep their eyes open and report anything unusual.
Taylor is due back in court on January 9th for a preliminary hearing.
Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Alexis Murphy is asked to contact the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office at (434) 263-7050.
