It happens to the best of us, problems.  Some big, some small.  Most of the time you seem to be able to brush it off. Then, a problem comes along that really affects you and, you are at a loss, as to what to do.  These 5 simple way to happiness in the face of problems might really be able to help you out.

5 simple way to happiness in the face of problems

1.)  Talk to a friend.

Sometimes, you might just need to talk to someone.  Not even for advice; simply to talk it through.

2.)  Write it down – - and then tear it up

Oftentimes, many find this to be a great outlet.  Write, or type out your thoughts and then either keep it is a really safe place or tear it up.

3.)  Reflect on all the things you are thankful for

Take a few minutes to reflect on the many good things in your life.  Really savor those moments.  This can help put things in perspective and give you the hope you need, in spite of problems.

4.) Mull over possible solutions

If you can see that there is a way out, you will likely feel better.  If the problem is your job, think about finding a new one.  If the problem is a relationship, do some soul searching and decide if you need to get out of it.  If you can objectively face your problems and think them through, you may easily be able to arrive at the solution.

5.)  Talk to a mental health professional

If you are working, many times this type of counseling is included with your health plan.  If you do not have insurance, the United States Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration has a number of self-help publications and links and listing for low cost or free help in your area.

At one time or another, we all face problems.  The key is to recognize that your problem is weighing on your mind and take steps to overcome it.
