The 7-year-old boy attacked by the family pit bull in Las Vegas suffered a severe leg injury.
The attack occurred on Jan. 31 at approximately 6 p.m. outside of the boy’s home on Exeter Drive, which is located near Lake Mead Boulevard and Hollywood Boulevard.
The area is a known as a lower income area with a high crime rate.
An identified person shot the pit bull. There were reportedly five or six shots fired at the dog and two of the shots hit the dog.
Police are not sure who the person was that fired the shots.
One of the owners daughter’s was overheard saying that one of her brothers saved her other brother’s life indicating that a family member, possibly a child, was the one who shot the dog.
The Children’s father was not at home at the time of the attack and later said that a neighbor, who has been lauded as a hero in the media, actually saved the boy’s life.
At first, it was unclear who owned the dog and it was later revealed that the dog belonged to the family.
In addition to the pit bull the family owned a pair of put bull puppies.
All three dogs dogs were removed from the home by animal control and CPS was called in to investigate.
The pit bull that attacked the child will likely be deemed vicious since it was involved in an attack and be put to sleep.
