According to the American Bible Society, Las Vegas ranks as one of the least Bible-Minded cities.
The recently released results of their 2013 survey of the most and least bible minded cities was based on answers to two questions asked during a telephone or online survey.
Respondents were asked
Respondents who reported reading the Bible within the past seven days and believed in the accuracy of the Bible were classified as “Bible Minded”. All other respondents were classified as in the Least “Bible-Minded” category.
Data for the survey was based on the the results of telephone and online interviews with random samples of 46,274 adults conducted over a seven-year period, ending in August 2013.
The top ten most Bible-minded cities according to the survey are:
Chattanooga, Tenn.
Birmingham, Ala.
Roanoke/Lynchburg, Va.
Springfield, Mo.
Shreveport, La.
Charlotte, N.C.
Greenville/Spartanburg, S.C./Asheville, N.C.
Little Rock, Ark.
Jackson, Miss.
Knoxville, Tenn.
The ten least Bible-minded cities are:
Providence, R.I./New Bedford, Mass.
Albany, N.Y.
Boston
San Francisco
Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Buffalo, N.Y.
Hartford/New Haven, Conn.
Phoenix
Burlington, Vt.
Portland, Maine
Although Las Vegas did not make the top ten for the least Bible-minded cities, Sin City ranked close to the bottom of the least Bible-minded cities and took the 11th spot.
The survey was conducted by the Barna Group in partnership with the American Bible Society.
