It can be annoying to many when actors, such as George Clooney, immerse, or attempt to immerse, themselves in politics. Many would rather have them stick to their craft. When Betty White enters the political arena the feeling is more of acceptance and respect.
Betty White told The Associated Press she “very, very much favors” President Barack Obama in the election. She went on to say that she likes “how he represents us.”
Some may say that when actors immerse themselves into politics and publicly voice their opinions that they are really out of touch with 99% of the population and simply help to perpetuate and further the agenda of the candidates they endorse, without having a “real-life” mentality. Similar to the way Mitt Romney is viewed.
Many question how realistic the input and views of the multimillion dollar candidates combined with the actors and actresses who support them really is. What do any of them REALLY know about suffering the effects of long-time unemployment? Losing a house? Losing their savings? The answer is not very much. Of course abstract thinking skills can be employed however, many believe, that is what caused many of the problems in our county in the first place.
If Betty White enters the political arena with more than just her simple endorsement, she will not likely face the same wrath since she appeals to mid-level America, demonstrates what appears to be a genuine sense of warmth and has a vast 90+ years of life experience. Let’s face it, she seems like everybody’s mother or grandmother. What a great poster child for bipartisanism!
