President Obama, Hillary Clinton honor Libya attack victims at a transfer of remains ceremony held earlier today at Andrews Air Force base in Maryland
Secretary of state Hillary Clinton gave a moving tribute to the victims, US Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and three others American’s killed, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyronne Woods, in the attack at the US consulate in Benghazi.
The Secretary of State said that the killings were senseless and Clinton made it very clear that the United States had nothing do do with the “Innocence of Muslims” film that has been circulating the internet.
The film which was made in California purportedly by filmmaker Nakoula Basseley Nakoula cost $5 million dollars.
The film had been linked to a Sam Bacile however it looks like Bacile might simply be a pseudonym for Nakoula who is now in hiding.
That video portrays the Prophet Mohammad as a womanizer, a homosexual and a child abuser with thugs as followers.
The film has provoked extreme violence across the Middle East by many Muslim extremists who believe that any any depiction at all of the Prophet is blasphemous.
After the attack on the US Embassy in Libya, Secretary of State Clinton said,
“This was an attack by a small and savage group, not the people and government of Libya”.
When she spoke today, Clinton emphasized the support and sentiments sent by leaders across the world.
President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton met with the families afterwards and watched solemnly as the 4 bodies were placed into 4 black limousines and carried off to he plane.
