When President Obama was elected, he faced, and still does, a lot of controversy in how he was able to get the majority vote.
Elections can be notoriously nasty and the President embraced what some will continue to call creative and borderline unethical ways of getting people to vote.
Allegations were rife of his campaign targeting the homeless, targeting elderly people who the campaign felt were easier to sway and of course targeting minority voters who turned out in record numbers to support an African American President. He appealed to minorities and attempted to present himself as being, “one of them”.
Truth be told, although President Obama is billed as the first African American President, he actually is biracial since his mother was Caucasian.
It did not seem to matter to the masses since he was viewed then and is still viewed now as their first “black” president.
For this round of elections, President Obama does not seem to have the edge he once did in attracting the downtrodden to vote for him. He can no longer paint the picture to the poverty stricken, a large base that he targeted, that things will get better and have them come out and support him.
The downtrodden or middle class have spiraled even further down the food chain with much needed relief programs being systematically stripped away. Unemployment has skyrocketed and many Americans have found that their benefits have ended with no relief in sight so it is doubtful they will be lining up to reelect President Obama.
What’s a President to do? He can still have his $40,000 a plate benefits with A list stars but how can he convince the regular folks in Nevada, an important state, that he is still the best choice
The Obama campaign is using star power to get votes in Las Vegas by having the mid level stars try to appeal to the masses.
Donald Faison and Zach Braff of the sitcom Scrubs campaigned in Las Vegas. They hit 5 houses in the 100 degree heat thrilled that they got one voter registered in Las Vegas.
After only 5 houses, they then the used their mid-level star power visiting Obama supported offices in the valley, making phone calls and basically trying to pump yo the troops.
Will it work this time around? Or is American really ready for a change?
