Here’s your daily Drew Peterson’s trial update for Friday.
The Drew Peterson trial has touched many and emotions are running high.
Restauranteur Jeff Ruby, owner of Jeff Ruby’s Restaurants was so disgusted at the way Peterson’s legal team is coming across that he made a statement in a big way.
He bought as space in the Aug. 7 issue of The Herald-News that said “Shameless!” blasting Drew Peterson’s legal team of attorneys Joel Brodsky, Steve Greenburg and Joe Lopez.
Ruby, who owns seven restaurants in three states, said, according to the Southtown Star, that he watches the Peterson trial on In Session, a program broadcast on TruTV.
It’s like they were mentored by their client, Drew Peterson. I’ve never seen an attorney like this at any murder trial, especially when there’s two women dead. It was like they were performing at the Catskills.
Ruby was in the news back in 2007 when refused to serve O.J. Simpson at his Louisville steakhouse
Today marks day 8 of the Drew Peterson trial and also the end of week 2 in the sensational murder trial against the former Bolingbrook Police Sergeant, Drew Peterson, who stands accused of killing 3rd wife Kathleen Savio.
The prosecution contents that Drew Peterson made Savio’s death appear to be an accident and the he was the mastermind behind staging it.
Witnesses have been allowed to testify about what Kathleen Savio told them about her ex-husband.
Friends who knew Kathy Savio said she was afraid of Drew Peterson because she told them so.
This hearsay testimony or testimony “from the grave” that has been allowed so far paints a picture of a menacing threatening man who was shielded from any prosecution until now because of his badge.
He’s even been the subject of a Lifetime movie “untouchable”
Friday’s testimony included Kathy Savio’s boyfriend, Steve Maniaci who started dating Savio around the the she and Drew Peterson were getting divorced.
He testified that he saw her naked body 3 days before her death and that there were no bruises on her body, according to CBS News.
This is key testimony since Savio’s body was found in a dry bathtub and she had bleeding gash on her head along with several dark marks.
Susan Doman, Savio’s sister testified. She said that Savio told her several times about an attack in the basement of her home when Peterson held a knife to her throat.
She even asked Peterson if he killed her sister and he said to her that he would not kill the mother of his children.
It was also revealed that Doman signed a book and movie deal that guaranteed her $30,000 if a film was made and the deal also specified that she be portrayed in a “positive” light while agreeing to allow the story to be fictionalized to make it more colorful.
The Chicago Tribune said that the defense jumped all over that testimony implicating that Doman signed the deal for money. She said it was for domestic violence.
Susan McCauley, Peterson’s former mistress testified. The jury was not allowed to to know that McCauley was his mistress.
She reportedly worked at a bar that Peterson had owned. When she saw him at a fundraiser after Savio’s death, she asked how his sons were and he told her that they would be fine because Savio was crazy.
Is the prosecution making headway in proving to jurors that Peterson orchestrated the murder of this 3rd wife and made it look like an accident?
