Until he was laid off last May from his job.
Times were tough for Riley Gunn, his wife Misti and his kids.
So tough that they could not even afford to stay in Reno since he didn’t have a job anymore.
He accepted an offer from his sister and ended up moving to Oregon to live with his family in a one room cabin.
Trying to get this life back on track, the 34-year-old had registered to take computer programming classes.
Even though money was extremely tight, he stopped at a small store on his way home to buy the kids corn dogs and decided to purchase some lottery tickets.
He had a feeling that he would win and, according to ABC News, Riley Gunn purchased $16 worth of tickets, even though he knew his wife would be upset with him.
When he found out he won, he broke the great news to his wife.
They were so broke that they had to borrow money from a friend to make the 200 mile trek to the Oregon Lottery headquarters to pick up their check.
He opted to take a lump sum and received a very nice $670,00 after taxes.
Very generously he donated 10% to his church.
Then he and his wife purchased brand new cars and make a bid on a home in California.
Gunn says that he intends to start a business with the rest of his lottery proceeds.
Congrats Riley and Misti Gunn
