LAS VEGAS — Thunder From Down Under suspect Joey Kadmiri was indicted by a grand jury on Friday.
Kadmiri, 24, was taken into custody on March 18 after a fight with performers of the show. The performers found him in a backstage locker room area at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino that he was unauthorized to be in. He had tried to gain access to the area a few times earlier in the evening when he attempted to pass himself off as a cast member.
An argument ensured between Kadmiri and cast members and it quickly turned physical. At one point Kamiri pulled out a gun, pointed it at a dancer’s head and fired. Someone pushed the gun away before it hit the dancer, and the shot fired into a wall which injured one of the performers from falling debris.
The Thunder From Down Under suspect has a lengthy felonious criminal history including arrests for escape, unauthorized credit card possession, domestic violence and resisting a police officer.
At the time of his arrest police suspected that Kadmiri was under the influence of methamphetamine. He claims that he suffers from mental health issues and thought he was being chased.
Joey Kadmiri is scheduled to appear in court on April 7 for a preliminary hearing on unrelated charges stemming from an November 2013 arrest that include assault with a deadly weapon, coercion with threat of force, kidnapping and domestic battery
He is also scheduled to appear in court on April 17 for his initial arraignment on the grand jury indictment.
