CJ, the Las Vegas chimp escapes again.
Only last month CJ and another chimp Buddy escaped their enclosure.
In that case, CJ was tranquilized and recaptured and Buddy terrorized a few people, charged a cop and was shot. He died from his injuries.
Much has come out about the owners and “caretakers” of the 2 chimps.
It appears that they are just completely ill suited to care for the chimps.
The USDA just released their finding from the prior escape and found that the chimps were lacking in proper veterinary care and had inadequate housing.
Only yesterday, I wrote an article, “Las Vegas Chimps were improperly cared for says USDA”, highlighting the plight of the chimps and the inadequacy of the “owners and “caretakers” responsible for them.
For this escape, CJ got out of her enclosure and was again roaming the streets. This happened today just before 5pm
Fortunately, no one was injured.
CJ has been taken to the Las Vegas Zoo.
Hopefully she will be able to remain there until she is transferred to an animal sanctuary in Bend, Oregon – something that should have happened long ago.
Is it any wonder that CJ the chimp tried the escape? Living in unnatural conditions like that!
The really sad thing about this case is that Timmi DeRosa who professes to be their caretakers is someone that is listed as the founder of the The Courtland Brandenberg Foundation in Beverly Hills which was founded in 2005.
Imagine that – a foundation that believes in proving the chimps a happy life and yet one of the founding members seems to be clueless as to how to accomplish that.
Her actions are in complete contrast to what the foundation says the stand for.
Here is what the foundation says,
We can – and must do more for our friends. If we’re going to use chimps to help us, we’ve simply got to return that favor by giving them a happy, decent life.
DeRosa did look upset on TV this evening however it doesn’t change anything.
How sad that this founding member of a animal foundation for chimps no less allowed a deplorable situation to go on.
Let’s hope that the USDA pulls any licenses she has held for exotic animals revoked.
She’s the poster child for why people should not be allowed to keep wild exotic animals in their homes!
