Daniel Dean Way, 19 was found murdered on August 17 in an area near Los Feliz Street and Bonanza Road in North East Las Vegas.
A woman walking her dog found the body.
Initially police could not identify who the deceased person was and released photo’s of Way’s tattoos which included a green skull, in their effort to identify him.
They had also released information that about the possible suspect, a white male between 16-25 years old with short light brown hair, approximately 5-feet-10 and 135-150 pounds.
A car seen leaving the area is described as a gray or silver late-model Chevrolet or GMC extended cab 4-wheel drive pickup truck with a loud exhaust and a raised suspension system.
Police have now release more information in an effort to solve the murder and it is gruesome.
Fox 5 Vegas reports that 10 year old Daniel Way was wearing only boxer shorts and both of hands were cut off at the wrist. His hands have not been recovered.
What would cause someone to cut off another person hands?
That seems to be sending a very strong message.
The first thing that comes to mind is drugs. In Mexico for example, Reuters reported on a story of a hit man in Ciudad Juarez who said that if someone stole drugs or money from the cartel, this hit man would saw off the persons arms and fingers.
Columbia was known to torture those who stole drugs from the cartels in unspeakable and unprintable ways.
Could this gruesome murder have something to do with the drug trade?
Online records show that a person with the name of Daniel D Way was arrested 3 times between March and July , 2012.
We do not know if it is the same person however some of the charges are for drug offenses.
Two of the charges are for possession of Marijuana and one of the charges, the most recent charge on July 12th includes a charge of possession of an imitation controlled substance with intent to use.
