Amy Bessey, the Las Vegas woman charged with conspiracy to commit murder against her husband, had reportedly said he was worth more “dead, than alive”
Amy Bessey, aka Amy Pearson, and her estranged husband, Robert Bessey were going through a divorce.
In November, 2011, Robert Bessey was driving alone on southbound I-15 when a car pulled up alongside him.
The next thing he knew, his car window was shattered and he discovered he was shot in the head.
He was able to contact police, underwent surgery for his injuries and appears to have made a full and speedy recovery.
Information that Robert Bessey had provided to police ultimately led to the arrest of his 21-year-old adopted son, Michael Bessey and, his 30-year-old brother-in-law, Richard Pearson.
A cloud of suspicion had surrounded Amy Bessey since the attempted murder of her husband, but until now no charges had been filed.
It appears that Amy Bessey had wanted her husband dead for some time.
In addition to being involved in the most recent murder plot against her husband, Amy Bessey apparently tried to have him killed before the November murder attempt.
She reportedly offered her son’s girlfriend $50,000 to poison Robert Bessey, as reported by Fox 5 News.
It appears that the motive was money.
If she was still married to him and he died, she stood to receive a substantial sum of money.
The nearly $500,000 in insurance and social security benefits, would be hers, if Robert Bessey was dead.
Amy Bessey turned herself in to police and reportedly begged her husband to drop the charges against her.
The Las Vegas woman charged with conspiracy to commit murder against her husband also faces faces of attempted murder with a deadly weapon and battery with substantial bodily harm.
