Next, he waited for his mother who arrived a few hours later and she was beaten as well and taken to the pool.
His mother managed to escape and contacted the police.
When police arrived, Sherwin was waiting for them on the front lawn and said he was locked up for mental health issues and was upset that his parents would not take him in.
After he was arrested, Sherwin gave an exclusive jailhouse interview to Fox 5 News.
Throughout the interview he smiled, laughed and even joked.
Sherwin showed absolutely no remorse for his brutal attack against his mother and stepfather.
He even described his actions as insanity mixed with revenge.
Sherwin said in the interview that his actions were not premeditated and added that he had a gun, at the time of the attack, that he could not find. According to Sherwin, had he found it, he would have “shot it out” with the cops.
Sherwin even made an inside joke to his stepfather during the jailhouse interview. Looking directly at the camera, he said, “They told me to do it”
His stepfather suffered serious injuries, as a result of the attack by his stepson, including a punctured left eye, a bitten left ear with a piece of the ear missing, a fractured skull, and kidney injuries
Sherwin entered a plea of not guilty and his trial date has been set for January 2, 2013
