Accused wife killer Troy White targeted estranged wife and boyfriend prior to shooting her to death and wounding her boyfriend.
The victim and mother of 5, Echo Lucas was in the home that she once shared with White, located Altamira Road, near Buffalo and Alta drives, with her boyfriend Joseph Averman when White came to the house.
Fox 5 News reports that although the couple was estranged, White would still visit the house to take care of his children.
Lucas reportedly wanted to end her eight year marriage to White and he refused to grant her a divorce.
According to the victims mother, Amber Gaines, after Echo Lucas had asked for a divorce, White began sending frightening and threatening text messages to Lucas threatening to kill her and the kids.
Averman told Fox 5 that White had previously threatened his life, but he didn’t believe he was serious.
On the day of the shootings, according to Averman, White showed up at the house that he and Echo Lucas once shared demanding to speak with Lucas. The two went into a back room while Averman took care of an infant.
Averman heard Lucas shouting at White and went to check.
As soon as Averman opened the door he saw White shove Echo and shoot her once in the chest or stomach. White then turned around and shot Averman.
White then reportedly told him that “he was going to jail and he was going to kill him.” and also reportedly asked Averman, “How does it feel now?”
One of Lucas’ children ran to a next door neighbors house to summon help.
Hours after the shooting, Troy White surrendered to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office in Arizona.
According to the Daily Courier, Dwight D’Evelyn, a spokesman for the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said, “White walked to the back of the Prescott Detention Center, spoke to an employee, and made reference to an incident in Las Vegas”. D’Evelyn also said, “We’re not releasing what White said to deputies or detectives at this time”.
A beautiful 29 year old young woman’s life ended so senselessly. She leaves behind 5 children, 3 that she had with her husband. Two of the children have a different father.
An account has been set-up to help cover funeral costs and is most needed to help provide care for the 5 children. The account is in Echo’s maiden name, Lucas. Donations can be made at any Wells Fargo branch.
