Tuesday marked the grim one-month anniversary of missing Mickey Shunick.
Shunick was last seen leaving a friends home on her bicycle. Her disappearance has led to one of the largest investigations in the Lafayette (Louisiana) Police Department
Shunick’s bicycle was recovered May 27th under the bridge of the Whiskey Bay Bridge on Interstate 10. 2 days later, Police released information about the condition of the badly damaged bicycle indicating that perhaps someone had hit Mickey Shunick accidentally and then tried to cover up the crime.
Surveillance footage was analyzed from nearby business and 3 cars of interest was noted; 2 of which have since been ruled out. Investigators continue to seek information on the 3rd vehicle, a newer model white Z-71 pickup truck.
The Shunick family hired a private investigator, John Abdella, He claims he has information on two possible suspects in Mickey’s disappearance that have approached other young females.
The Shunick family released the following statement on their website,
The Shunick Family would like individuals with tips, leads, or information relating to the investigation to bring them to the attention of the police department or Mr. Abdella. The LPD tipline is 337-291-8633 and Mr. Abdella 337-235-0270. At this time there are no other licensed individuals affiliated with the Shunick family in the investigation. All individuals with information are still greatly encouraged to bring them to the attention of the LPD and the PI. We appreciate and need the assistance of each and every one of you, we would not be here if not for you, the community. Bringing Mickey Home safely is and will always continue to be our only priority. Thank You.
