LAS VEGAS — Clark County bad teacher Tanikka Queen was arrested Tuesday and charged with more than 2o counts related to the inappropriate relationship she had with a student.
Queen, 22, had been working as a substitute teacher with the CCSD for over a year.
The charges stem from an investigation that began after a concerned parent tipped off authorities about an inappropriate relationship between Queen and a 15-year-old boy who is a student at Hyde Park Middle School.
Queen and the student became infatuated with one another when she was tutoring him during lunch.
They began communicating on a regular basis and became involved in a relationship on Valentine’s day.
During the brief month-long relationship they exchanged over 2,000 text messages.
They also called each other frequently and sent each other photographs on their cell phones.
Queen seemed cognizant of the danger she was in by dating a student and mentioned in her texts to him that she was placing herself in danger by seeing him.
The student, who was repeating 8th grade for the third time told his father that he was seeing a woman named Bella.
Queen maintains that she did not have sex with the student.
Authorities do not believe the substitute was involved in an inappropriate relationship with other students but are continuing their investigation.
Queen has been charged with 6 counts of first degree kidnapping, 14 counts related to luring a child and one count of open and gross lewdness.
She is being held without bail at the CCDC and is scheduled for a 72-hour hearing on Friday.
