LAS VEGAS — Deja Allen, who was also known as Deja LaRae, died after the vehicle she was traveling in crashed.
The crash occurred Tuesday evening at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Torrey Pines Drive.
It was initially believed that the 30-year-old mother had opened the door of the GMC Yukon possibly because she felt ill and was going to throw up. The driver of the vehicle then became startled, veered off to the right, hit a light pole on the sidewalk and crashed.
Allen was thrown from the vehicle and she died at the scene.
The Clark County coroner’s office said that Allen suffered numerous injuries and has ruled that her death was a suicide.
Friends of Allen have said they do not believe that the cause of her death was a suicide.
They remember the young mother as someone who was full of life and say she would never end her own life. They say she had too much to live for.
Her friends seem to agree that alcohol was consumed that evening and speculate that Allen may have simply opened the door at the wrong time which set off the unfortunate chain of events that lead to her death.
Although technically still married to a man, Allen was involved in a relationship with Latissha “Tish” Matthews who was the driver of the vehicle. Some of Allen’s friends said the relationship between Allen and Matthews was marred by domestic violence and simply do not believe Matthew’s version of events.
Matthews posted on her Facebook page that, “That is so foul for anybody to say I did something I Love her so much.”
She also posted that Allen was the, “love of her life.”
Allen is going to be cremated and friends are planning a memorial to remember Deja Allen.
