Bellagio razor attack; what provoked Brenda Stokes?

The Bellagio razor attack that left one women disfigured is the latest in a string of violence that has taken place on casino grounds.

Just weeks ago on December 14th,  Edward C Brandt  shot to death Jessica Kenny while she was working at the Excalibur Casino. The two reportedly had been in some type of  prior relationship.

It appears that both attacks were provoked by extreme jealousy.

The Bellagio razor attack is apparently connected with the murder of 10- year-old Jade Morris.

Jade Morris’ father, Philip Morris, has been involved in an off-again on-again with Brenda Stokes, a dealer at the Bellagio, who has also been identified as Brenda Stokes Wilson.

Phillip Morris was living in Missouri for the past year, however when he would come to Las Vegas, he would stay with Stokes.

Stokes and her sometimes beau Phillip Morris were involved in what appears to be a love triangle involving another dealer at the Bellagio, Joyce Rhone.

Although Stokes isn’t talking too much, she has spoken to Police about a “betrayal”, which allegedly prompted the Bellagio Razor attack.

Stokes picked up Jade Morris on Friday, December 21, from Jade Morris’ mother, Tejuana Reeves-Morris to purportedly take her shopping.

She had borrowed a car from a friend.

When the 10 year old was not brought home as expected, police were notified.

Investigators later found blood on the driver’s door and steering wheel of the borrowed 2007 Saab sedan and a DNA match has been made to bloody clothing found in Stokes home to Jade Morris.

It appears that Stokes killed the 10-year-old by repeatedly stabbing her and, not too long after the vicious attack, caught a ride to the Bellagio where she attacked Rhone.

Stokes was holding a razor in each hand and slashed Rhone’s face, in front of horrified casino patrons, until she was wrestled to the ground, leaving Rhone with disfiguring injuries suffered in the Bellagio Razor attack including a deep cut extending from her ear to the edge of her mouth

Crazed jealousy seems to be the cause however Stokes has a violent history and, as some would say, does not seem to be wired too tight.

Many people cannot fathom how someone would kill a 10-year-old child of a sometimes lover in order to extract revenge on what is perceived as a “betrayal”.

Brenda Stokes troubled past

She graduated from Moss Point High School in Mississippi and has a history of violence, according to those who knew her.  Stokes reportedly cut off the genitals off a boyfriend that she dated while a teenager.

According to gulflive.com, a 1983 Moss Point High school graduate, who did not want to be identified said,

Brenda has got a history of using knives on folks.

She ended up in Las Vegas and is the sister of former local boxing legend Donald “Tiger” Stokes.

Ruby Stokes, Brenda’s mother, had allegedly been staying away from media reports on advice of her family and an attorney representing her daughter.

She has also said,

I wish everybody could consider the feeling of the family.

Right now the “feelings” are not on Ruby Stokes or her family, who obviously knew something was amiss with their very troubled daughter who would so callously murder a 10 year old.

The “feelings” are directed to Joyce Rhone who has been left disfigured in the Bellagio razor attack and towards Phillip Morris and Tejuana Reeves-Morris who lost their beautiful, 10-year-old  daughter, Jade Morris, all too soon.

Stokes has initially been charged with burglary, 2 counts relating to battery with a deadly weapon,and mayhem.  Murder charges have since been added and her bail was raised to $600,000.
