Authorities have been searching for the elusive fugitive and former LAPD police officer and there is currently a Christopher Dorner shoot-out between Dorner and authorities, although the fugitive has not been captured.
Christopher Dorner has made nationwide headlines after releasing his very long manifesto alleging numerous improprieties at the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) that have resulted in his firing.
He said that he had no choice but to take matters into his own hands after his name was tarnished.
Dorner, an apparently very smart guy with a military background, was fired from the LAPD for making false statements.
He said that he exhausted all available legal means and was going to go after the officer and police brass involved in his termination and their families.
Making good on his threat, he killed the daughter of a policeman and her boyfriend, has killed a cop and wounded another one.
Interestingly, after the threats and killings, the LAPD has said they will reopen the matter of Dorner’s firing, however that move failed to convince Dorner to turn himself in.
The LAPD has been on high alert and has officers protecting all that were threatened in, what is now known as, the Dorner manifesto.
Nevada has been on heightened alert as well since he owns a home in Las Vegas and authorities even expanded their search into Mexico.
His burning car was found in Big Bear, California as was his identification but there was no sign of Dorner.
The Big Bear area was searched numerous times and over the past few days, there were a few reported sightings of Dorner in California.
Speculation was also rife that he has some help and that person has been under surveillance.
Earlier today, he broke into a home, tied up the elderly residents and stole their car.
Dorner, or at least the person that authorities believe is Dorner, is now engaged in a gun battle with authorities in Big Bear and it is hard to imagine that he will be captured alive.
He is in a cabin and is completely surrounded by authorities and there are already at least two officers down. It is not known how much firepower he had, however authorities are proceeding with extreme caution.
