The Connecticut elementary school shootings at the Sandy Hook Elementary school in Connecticut has left the nation in mourning and left so many wondering why. Why kill innocent little children?
Initially there was some confusion about who exactly perpetuated the horrendous crimes that resulted in the death of 26 people because apparently, Adam Lanza, had his brother Ryan Lanza’s identification on him.
Here is what we know.
Adam Lanza. 20, killed his mother in the home that the two shared by shooting her at point-blank range.
After killing his mother, he went to the Sandy Hook Elementary school and forced his way in.
Although Nancy was not a full time teacher at the school, she did have some type of affiliation with the school.
Once inside, he opened fire, concentrating his efforts in 2 classrooms and killed 26 people; 20 children and 6 adults.
Police were called and immediately rushed to the scene. They had already called for back-up and could be seen rushing into the school.
As the very scared, surviving elementary school children were brought to safety, they were told to cover their eyes, in an attempt to prevent them from seeing the horrendous scene that will be forever indelibly etched into their young minds.
The shooter, who killed himself after committing the deadliest elementary school massacre in history, is Adam Lanza.
He was 20 years old.
Adam lived with his mother, Nancy. They lived in the wealthy neighborhood of Newtown, Connecticut in a sprawling home.
Adam Lanza reportedly owned at least three guns that were found near his body at the crime scene.
The weapons were allegedly purchased by his mother.
Nancy Lanza was an avid gun collector, who reportedly amassed an impressive collection of expensive and deadly guns.
Adam has a brother Ryan Lanza, who lives in Hoboken, NJ and he hasn’t spoken to Adam for approximately 2 years.
Ryan has reportedly described his brother as mildly autistic, although it is unclear if Adam had ever been diagnosed as autistic or suffering from Asperger’s syndrome. He has also said he believed his brother suffered from a personality disorder.
Their father, Peter, lives in Stamford, Connecticut, with his second wife and reportedly is a Vice President for GE Capital.
The brothers’ aunt Marsha Lanza said that Adam Lanza was raised by kind, nurturing parents who would not have hesitated to seek mental help for him if he needed it.
Nancy and Peter Lanza filed for divorce in 2008 after being married for 28 years.
Some friends of Adam Lanza have described him as being a genius, and even though he may have done well in school, a picture of a much more deeply disturbed individual is emerging.
Other words that have been used to described are thin, goth, remote, socially awkward and inept and deeply troubled with some former classmates not even being surprised when they found out that Adam Lanza committed the horrendous massacre at Sandy Hook elementary school.
He is remembered as being weird, having outbursts and was a walking “ticking time bomb“.
Although the boys’ aunt said that the parents would have sought help if there were any problems, other family members are reportedly saying that something was very wrong with Adam Lanza and that he avoided people whenever possible.
On Twitter, a neighbor and former classmate Timothy Dalton tweeted,

Another tweeted,
Talked to a friend who knew Nancy Lanza. She retired a few years ago to take care of Adam (who was autistic).

Unfortunately, the case points to yet another severely troubled, wacko kid who was likely being shielded from the world by his wealthy family.
The family is already starting to issue denials with Aunt Marsha trying to paint a picture of everything being just perfect and stating that the parents would have sought help for their kid if there were any problems.
He did have problems. Major ones. He was known as a weirdo, his own brother did not have a relationship with him for at least the past two years and is saying that his brother was autistic or had a personality problem, however Aunt Marsha has not acknowledged that yet.
Deny, deny, deny.
That is one of the things that is dreadfully wrong with our society.
In this case, a mother’s love for her gun collection and teaching her, by all accounts, deeply disturbed son how to handle an arsenal of weaponry was simply a deadly and very poor decision.
No parent wants to admit that their own flesh and blood is a deeply disturbed wacko, or even simply “born bad”, however it is important to acknowledge signs displayed that something is deeply wrong with their offspring in order to prevent future occurrences of these types of senseless tragedy’s.
Lt. Paul Vance of the Connecticut State Police led the morning news conference on Saturday and pleaded with the media and the public to respect the privacy of the families of those killed.
He also noted that a Crisis Intervention Line has been set up to offer counseling for those needing help in dealing with the tragedy and aftermath of the Connecticut elementary school shootings. The Crisis Intervention line can be reached at 203-270-4283
