
Las Vegas’ downtown, Golden Nugget Casino receives OK to reopen Employee Dining Room after being forced to shut it down by the health department.
NOTE. 12-16-2012 The Southern Nevada Health District Inspections page shows the Golden Nugget EDR is closed. I contacted the GM and was told by a PBX Operator that the dining room is open.
The longtime downtown Casino was forced to close their employee dining room on Tuesday, 12-11-12.
Carson Street Cafe and Lillie’s Asian Cuisine were also ordered closed after deplorable conditions were found.
There was an “explosive” infestation of German cockroaches and fruit flies found.
The employee dining room has been cited the week before and apparently the health inspectors had enough.
Employees have been reportedly complaining about the infestation for years.
According to 13 Action News, the Golden Nugget issued a statement that read,
The safety of our employees and guests is of the utmost importance to us and therefore we are going above and beyond what the health department has asked us to do in order to correct this incident.
You have to wonder where their management team is to not to notice such a problem. Bugs, ROACHES were visible everywhere!
Perhaps they do not eat in the employee dining room.
The pictures are absolutely disgusting.
A roach problem is not born overnight and, as any exterminator will tell you, if you are seeing roaches during the day, that is a sure sign of a severe infestation.
With downtown Las Vegas in the throes of redevelopment efforts, this certainly is bad press that has, fortunately, now been remedied.
According to 13 Action News, the Southern Nevada Health District, re-inspected the closed facilities Friday morning but the conditions were still not up to par.
More work was needed to meet requirements.
Health inspectors visited again Friday evening and reinstated the A rating.
Carson Street Cafe was scheduled to open for breakfast Saturday morning and Lillie’s scheduled to open for dinner Saturday night.
