Craigslist crimes; real dangers of Craigslist

Craigslist crimes; real dangers of Craigslist

Craigslist Craigslist crimes; real dangers of CraigslistCraigslist crimes are nothing new and they happen more often than you think.

Of course, the public generally is only aware of the high-profile cases, however, there are many others.

Since crime victims do not always report the crimes, the amount of craigslist crimes will not ever truly be known.

After a number of killers were found to have used Craiglist in their hunt for victims, like Phillip Markoff, and after allegations about numerous craigslist crimes, the owners of craigslist made a huge announcement.

Craigslist make a number of flowery statements and announced they were shutting down their Adult section of Craigslist

What hogwash!

While this may be “technically true”, all of the exact same ads are there.

A recent perusal of the “personal” section under “misc romance” shows this warning,

Unless all of the following points are true, use your “back” button to exit this part of craigslist:

  1. I am at least 18 years old.
  2. I understand “misc romance” may include adult content.
  3. I agree to flag as “prohibited” anything illegal or in violation of the craigslist terms of use.
  4. By clicking on the links below, I release craigslist from any liability that may arise from my use of this site

Craigslist has not changed anything. They merely shifted their sections around and all the congressional leaders who put the pressure on craigslist were quick to announce, in 2010,  how pleased they were.

There are still plenty of prostitutes, pimps and human traffickers using craigslist and craigslist crimes are still occurring.

The announcement by craigslist and the overwhelming support by congressional leaders was an example of corrupt politics at it’s finest.

Craigslist is as popular as it ever was and there are still plenty of craigslist crimes; adult and otherwise.

In Chicago, Andrew Jones, 20, was arrested YESTERDAY in Chicago and charged with aggravated battery and armed robbery.

The Sun Times reports that he answered ads of men seeking men.

When the victims would meet Jones, he allegedly confronted them with a handgun and took them to the rear of the location, police said. He would then take the victims’ belongings and cars.

He even shot one guy in the crotch.

Craiglist crimes and the craiglist adult section are both alive and well.

If you are still going to conduct business on craigslist, depite the danger, here are 5 ways to protect yourself when using craigslist that can help you protect yourself and reduce your changes being a craigslist crimes victim.
