Nevada Cat Man dies at age 54 and it looks like he committed suicide.
Many have heard about “Cat Lady” Jocelyn Wilderstein, the woman who had oodles of plastic surgery to make herself look like a cat but few knew about Dennis Avner, better known as the Nevada Cat Man, who died November 5th.
Dennis Avner, known as Stalking Cat Man, Nevada Cat Man and just plain Cat Man, wanted to look like a tiger and undertook numerous body modifications in his quest.
He preferred to be called by his Native American name, “Stalking Cat”.
The Navy veteran even won a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for “most permanent transformations to look like an animal”.
Although he was not a “traditional” celebrity, there was a lot interest in him and he certainly was recognizable worldwide.
Some of his television appearances included “Ripley’s Believe It or Not!,” VH1’s “Totally Obsessed,” and Animal Planet’s “Weird, True & Freaky”
He underwent numerous extreme body mod’s in his quest to look like a tiger and had many operations including the splitting of his upper lip, surgical pointing of the ears, cheek implants, forehead implants, as well as numerous tattoos and facial piercings.
He even had custom teeth built to emulate his inner nature, and regularly wore contact lenses and an artificial robotic tail.
Avner, a computer programmer, did not want to just be any tiger; he wanted to be a female tiger.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain a mystery although it is believed that he took his own life.
A page has been set up at GoneTooSoon.org to memorialize him.
