Las Vegas double murder investigation continues

The Las Vegas double murder investigation continues in a horrific attack of a Las Vegas family.

Ignacia “Yadira Martinez”, 38 and her 10 year old daughter, Karla were found dead in their home at 1016 Robin street.  Their 9 year son showed up to school on Monday and told a counselor about his mother and sister at home. Police were notified and three injured people were found in the home, along with a 4-year-old boy who was not hurt.

The injured person is allegedly Arturo Martinez, husband and father of the victims.  He is in protective custody, but not under arrest. He is in critical condition ad unable to assist in the investigation. The 9-year-old and 4-year-old have been in protective custody since Monday.

One neighbor, Lucinda Jackson Griffith, said she heard at least one gunshot early Monday.

According to the Las Vegas Review Journal, Multiple law enforcement sources confirmed that Karla Martinez was raped and killed in her home sometime between Sunday morning and Monday morning.  Her mother, 38-year-old Ignacia “Yadira” Martinez, also was beaten to death, and her father, Arturo “Art” Martinez, was hospitalized with severe head injuries. Sources said investigators were uncertain whether Ignacia Martinez had been raped, but that was being investigated.

Early news reported indicated that the 9 year boy told school officials that his father was the killer. That statement has been dismissed as false by Deputy Chief Jim Owens.

“That’s not true. That’s a bad source,” Owens said. “I definitely would not print that.”

No arrest have been made and the Las Vegas double murder investigation is ongoing.
