Another day, another light sentence for those who commit horrendous crimes. The Las Vegas kitten killers receive a slap on the wrist sentence from Judge Voy.
It is a shame that the Judges think so little of the horrendous mutilation of animals that they repeatedly and consistently issue light sentences.
In the latest case of animal abuse, 2 preteen Las Vegas boys thought it was great fun to pelt a mother cat that was in process of giving birth.
And pelt away they did!
All six kittens died; 4 were dead on the scene by the time authorities arrived and the other 2 kittens died shortly after being taken to a local veterinarians office.
The vet that treated the kittens said it was a terrible experience that she will never forget.
The boys were arrested and, because of their age, only faced up to 30 days in jail.
They didn’t even get that
Their court date had been delayed because the Judge wanted time to review their psychological evaluations.
The evaluation showed no problems with the kids.
Does that mean they were just born bad?
They received a whopping 2 months of probation, a 30-day suspended sentence in the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center and 80 hours of community service.
They also can’t associate with each other and have to write an essay on how to treat animals.
At least the Judge didn’t specifically sentence the kids to community service at an animal shelter, which seems to be the usual sentencing, although the kids can probably serve it out at one.
How can a tough message be sent that animal abuse won’t be tolerated with the Judges regularly doling out slap on the wrist sentences?
It simply can’t.
Learning how to treat animals properly is something that is supposed to be learned at home. Obviously the parents of the Las Vegas kitten killers either had no clue what was going on with their kids or simply didn’t give a hoot, so the preteens were left to their own devices.
When they got in trouble, the courts were supposed to dole out an appropriate sentence and instead sadly disappoints.
Shame on you Judge Voy.
