With unemployment at one time closer to 14%, it is great to note some good regarding unemployment. State unemployment numbers have dropped slightly from 13 percent in December 2011 to 12.7 percent in January 2012.
Nevada one of top states leading the nation in Job Creation is very welcomed news. The Labor Department says California, Arizona, Florida and Nevada, all states hit hard by the recession, now account for one-third of all jobs created across the country last year.
Caesars Entertainment hired 250 workers when its Margaritaville Casino opened last October. Its new Octavius Tower offered 400 positions and the Linq Project, now under construction, created some 3,000 new jobs.
“We are very optimistic that Las Vegas will come back bigger, better, stronger than ever,” Rick Mazer with Caesars Entertainment said.
Although the figures sound good, the reality is that Nevada, particularly Las Vegas have been hit very VERY hard by the plunging economy.
There are some jobs, however people that have lost high level jobs are likely not going to find a comparable job very soon, forcing them to remain on the unemployment lines longer.
President Obama helped plunge the economy into further with his disparaging remarks about Las Vegas not once but twice.
His remarks have caused key business to cancel their contracts for conventions in Las Vegas and have driven people away from Las Vegas.
