Nevada teenage killer Toni Fratto

Nevada teenage killer Toni Fratto is behind bars, and will be for many, many years, although for the family of the girl she murdered, there is no sentence that can be long enough

On March 5, 2011, the body of Micaela Costanzo,  a 16 year old student was found in a shallow grave near the Utah border.

Micaela Costanzo had been brutally murdered. She had disappeared on March 3, while walking home from West Wendover High School.

She has been described as a beautiful girl – inside and out. She came from a loving family and was the youngest of six girls.

She was smart and beautiful.

In an outpouring of support from the close-knit community,  friends, local residents and even officers from the Wendover Police Department attended the funeral service for Micaela Costanzo.

At one time, Micaela dated a guy named Kody Cree Patten. They even knew each other as kids.

As time progressed, they two were not together anymore and the soon-to-be Nevada teenage killer Toni Fratto was with Kody Patten.

They had hopes of getting married.

Instead both Toni Fratto and Kody Patten are in jail for murdering Micaela Constanzo.
The Judge told Patten at sentencing,

Your blood runs cold, Mr. Patten. There shall be no possibility of parole.

Murder is horrible no matter who commits the heinous act.

What would cause a teenage girl, who seemed “normal”, to kill another one?

Although the answer is still elusive, Toni Fratto was likely consumed with jealousy.

Fratto’s mother had allowed Patten to stay with the family about 6 weeks before Costanzo’s murder because she allegedly feared her daughter would leave with Patten.

Although Fratto is portrayed as this God-loving Mormon girl, there was obviously so much more information that was not made public.

Her own mother, Cassie Fratto, was so fearful of what her daughter would do, that she quickly caved in to her daughter’s demands to allow her boyfriend to move in.

She even admitted that her daughter started to change a year before her daughter murdered Costanzo.

She had appeared on Anderson Cooper and wouldn’t even apologize for her daughter’s actions, insisting that her own daughter was a victim of Kody.

Kristina Constanzo, Micaela’s sister, believes that Nevada teen killer Toni Fratto was the instigator and didn’t like it when Kody would associate with Micaela.

A good amount of people seem to believe that she was indeed the aggressor. She simply wanted Costanzo out of the way because the 16 year old has expressed interest in getting back with Patten.

Fratto admitted that on March 3, she struck Costanzo in the back with a shovel and sat on her legs while Kody Patten cut the girl’s throat.

Now Nevada teen killer Toni Fratto along with her former fiancee and convicted killer, Kody Patten, sit in jail, each going against the other to secure their own deal.

Toni Fratto will serve at least 18 years in jail and Kody Patten has received a life without parole sentence.

She could be out before she is 40 years old; Micaela’s short life ended at 16.

For the family of Micaela Costanzo, life will never be the same.
