Jake Howell, the former Las Vegas student arrested with an assault weapon cuts deal
Jake Howell, the former Las Vegas student armed with assault weapon cuts deal.
Last month, after the holidays, Jake Howell, 18 was arrested.
He was at the Northwest Career and Technical Academy, where he was reportedly a former student, armed with an assault weapon.
It wasn’t loaded, but the ammunition for the gun was found in his car.
What would he be doing there?

Is it safe to assume that Howell did not have good intentions?
Perhaps he was even testing the waters before deciding to move forward with some kind of plan to be the next mass school shooter?
Maybe he has some psychological issues?
Maybe he is simply a follower of a dangerous group and was going to do just what he was told to do?
It is simply not normal behavior to show up at your former school with a gun, especially in light of all the recent tragedies that have occurred on school grounds perpetuated be either former or current students.
He was arrested before the Christmas holiday and charged with 5 counts of possessing a dangerous weapon on school grounds.
But guess what?
The former Las Vegas student armed with an assault weapon and knives and a sword cuts a deal.
According to 8 News Now, Howell appeared in court this morning and waived his preliminary hearing.
He is purportedly going to plead guilty to lesser charges after a deal was cut with the district attorney.
A deal! A lesser charge!
Howell was at this former school with an assault rifle, ammunition, three knives and a some type of sword!
He said he wanted to be prepared in case society collapsed but denied wanting to murder anyone at the school.
Well then, why was he there with an assault rifle and armed with knives and a sword?
Instead of the potential of several years in jail, this kid may very well receive little to no jail time.
It has been reported that there is a link between Howell and another teenager that is facing federal weapon charges in Las Vegas.
That teenager, Steven Fernandez, was previously arrested for terrorism and had assault weapons, ammunition plus a copy of “The Anarchist’s Cookbook” in his possession when arrested. He described himself, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal, as the commanding officer of the 327th Nevada Militia, an urban survivalist unit with six or seven members.
There was speculation that on the day Howell was arrested, that there might have been plans for shooting at the school to protest Fernandez’ arrest.
Maybe the DA has his reasons for cutting a deal with this troubled or psychologically unsound kid who thinks society is on the verge on collapsing and goes to his former school with an assault rifle, knives and other gear.
Maybe Howell is providing evidence in the Fernandez case since Fernandez is the “bigger fish”.
Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.
It’s quite troubling that this kids gets to cut a deal and, truthfully, I am glad I do not have any kids attending Northwest Career and Technical Academy.
Have our lawmakers not received the message that kids with guns on school grounds is a most volatile situation that requires severe punishment for anyone participating in such actions?
