A New York man fakes his own death and his wife Evana Roth is furious.

It appears that Raymond Roth, 47 had been making plans to disappear.

Perhaps he became a bit unhinged; perhaps it was all part of the plan.

Roth  has recently been fired from his  job at Level 3 Communications, a telecommunications company and then threatened his former supervisor.

He allegedly threatened to shoot his supervisor and had his licensed handgun confiscated.

He also tripled his life insurance policy, rewrote his will and put his house up for sale.

And then Raymond Roth disappeared.

He had been at Jones Beach with his 22 year old son, Jonathan Roth who called 911 to report him missing.  Jonathan is Evan’s stepson.

A search ensued that cost 10’s of thousands of dollars only to turn up Roth’s keys, wallet, shoes and little else.

From there, things get very strange.

Roth allegedly emptied out his wife’s bank account – to the tune of $10,000.

His own brother called the police to say his brother was alive and claimed his wife knew he was alive.

Then he got stopped for speeding in North Carolina. He used his own license, which he did not leave on the beach so the cop figured out that he was listing as a missing person and questioned Roth.

He said he was returning to New York, and the officer let him proceed.

Evana Roth is reportedly “furious” that her husband faked his death.

Roth’s wife Evana said she had no part in his scheme and was actually making plans for his funeral.

She’s been very vocal expressing her outrage and held a news conference. She said,

I just can’t believe he’d do something like that. It’s like a horrible movie. This is a terrible nightmare that I want to wake up from.

She found a number of emails where he was communicating with his son, Jonathan instructing him on how to proceed.  Jonathan is supposedly now gone.  He presumably went to help his father.

Evana Roth also received text messages from her husband imploring her to  “Be Nice” when he heard she was giving a news conference.

Police have spoken to Roth and he said he was on his way back to New York.

He has not returned as of yet and it is unclear what charges, if any, that he will face.

Is Raymond Roth a conniving criminal or just a misguided, foolish individual looking for an easy way out of his problems?
