There might be some hope after all for OJ Simpson since Nevada Judge, Linda Marie Bell, has given the go ahead and the OJ Simpson case will be reviewed. If the evidence is in his favor, Simpson could be granted a new trial.
There were 22 points brought up in an appeal by Simspon’s (new) attorney, Patricia Palm although the Judge dismissed four leaving 18 that will considered in the upcoming evidentiary hearing.
After being found not guilty in a criminal court for the murder of his wife, Nicole Simpson, the former and now disgraced sports icon, landed in jail in Las Vegas for an armed robbery when he trying to steal memorabilia, that he claimed were stolen from him, at a hotel room in the Palace Station casino.
He is currently serving a 9 to 33 year prison term that some people consider harsh. Many still believe that the sentence is Nevada was payback for the not guilty California verdict and that someone else would not have received such a harsh sentence.
Simpson’s appeal attorney is going after Simpson trial lawyer, Ari Galanter, who Simpson claims knew of his plans to go after the Las Vegas memorabilia dealer to get his items back and offered him advice.
Galanter has previously said that he had nothing to do with the armed confrontation at the Palace Station Casino.
Simpson is also claiming that he was never made aware of a pre-trial offer that would have guaranteed him a two to five year prison sentence. He said had he known about the offer, he would have taken it.
Although it is very good news for “The Juice” that the OJ Simpson case will be reviewed, there is no guarantee that a new trial will be granted.
What do you think? Was OJ’s sentence too harsh or just right?
