The murder of 21 year old Starbucks barista Whitney Heichel has touched people all across the nation.
People were horrified to learn that the beautiful young married woman was killed by someone that lives in her apartment complex.
That really shouldn’t surprise anyone since stranger on stranger murder is not that common.
Whitney Heichel left her home only minutes before she had to be at work for her shift because she lived that close.
With that in mind, it would be very unlikely, not impossible but unlikely, that she was grabbed so quickly by a stranger. Moreover, there were video surveillance tapes showing her sitting in the passenger seat of her own car with someone else at the wheel.
Since Whitney knew who her abductor was, perhaps in the back of her mind she did not believe he was going to kill her, which is why she likely did not run out of the car screaming at the gas station. Perhaps she was simply too terrified.
Whitney Heichel unfortunately suffered terribly. She was raped and shot multiple times by her neighbor.
Many murder victims, particularly women, have some connection with their abductors whether it be a handy man who performs tasks around the home, a delivery man, someone that was in the home cleaning rugs or someone that the victim encountered in their day to day activities. Time and time again we see that connection.
In the case of Whitney Heichel, the man arrested for her murder, Jonathan Holt, 24 was an acquaintance and neighbor.
Since he was married, he probably seemed safe to her. After all they attended the same church and Clint and Whitney Heichel cared for Holt’s plants and cats when the Holt’s were away.

Only two weeks ago, Clint Heichel helped Holt jump-start his motorcycle.
Holt also apparently thrust himself into the investigation, another common characteristic of someone who is guilty.
He offered up information and in the series of interviews, his stories just did not add up, ultimately leading to his arrest.
Clint Heichel and Whitney Heichel promised to be with each other forever and now Clint Heichel has lost his wife at the tender age of 21 to a predator.
