The kids liked her, she had no major disciplinary issues in her file and was considered to be “a good teacher”, who according to her attorney, was “well-respected’
Before she was a teacher, she had worked other jobs, as many Americans do.
Her “past life’ included a nine month stint in the adult firm industry.
From December 2005 to August 2006, Stacie Halas, worked as a porn actress and went by the moniker, “Tiffany Six”.
She didn’t disclose to school authorities that she has worked as a porn actress and thought her past was behind her.
But it wasn’t.
First there were whispers amongst the kids. Before long the “talk” had made it’s way back to the Principal’s office.
Stacie Halas categorically denied that she was an adult film star. Those lies ultimately led to her dismissal.
Has she not lied about her porn past, there would be a debatable issue.
There are plenty of people, even some with criminal backgrounds, who change their lives and go on to have rewarding, productive careers.
They key is not lying about it.
Had she been truthful, she likely would not have been hired as a teacher int he first place, though, so it really is a double edged sword.
If she did disclose her past as a porn star, was hired anyway and then fired after her past became well-known throughout the school, she might have had a good case.
It truly seems that our society can be so hypocritical with such a focus on women and sex, yet those women that choose work in the industry are forever labelled.
In Stacie Halas’ case, she has lot her appeal and her teaching career is over.
