Elton John hospitalized, Las Vegas shows cancelled. Sir Elton John developed a serious respiratory infection last Sunday, his condition worsened, and he was admitted Wednesday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
The 65-year-old British singer was told by doctors that he must cancel his four remaining concerts at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace Las Vegas, May 24th through May 27th, and follow a regimen of rest while he is treated with antibiotics.
Sir Elton said in a statement, “It feels strange not to be able to perform these ‘Million Dollar Piano’ concerts at the Colosseum … I love performing the show and I will be thrilled when we return to the Colosseum in October to complete the 11 concerts. All I can say to the fans is sorry I can’t be with you”
The forced cancellation ends his run at Caesars Palace until October. Celine Dion, herself on a forced hiatus, returns to the venue Saturday, June 9th
