Hailey Dunn remains possibly found

Hailey Dunn, who was 13 years old when she disappeared from Colorado City, TX in late 2010 is in the national spotlight since remains have been found less than one mile from the home of the only person of interest in the case, Shawn Adkins.

The investigation focused on Shawn Adkins, the boyfriend of Hailey Dunn’s mother, Billie Jean Dunn as well as Billie Jean Dunn, an admitted substance abuser who failed 2 lie detector tests.

The more disturbing aspects of the case include an admission by the mother than she withdrew money from an ATM to purchase illegal drugs on the night Hailey Dunn disappeared. Both she and Shawn Adkins were in possession of disturbing material including news clippings of serial killers. Shawn Adkins also reportedly told others that killing a young girl was like killing a deer, one of Adkins’s hobbies. Both Dunn and Adkins reportedly also had a New years Party at their house, less than a week after Hailey Dunn had been reported missing.

Adkins was apparently the last person to have seen Hailey Dunn. Phone records place him in the area of her disappearance. Adkins failed to complete 3 lie detector tests. He also said he was fired from his job which his employer has denied. Adkins told police he went directly from his job to his mother’s home. He later told police he had quit.

Dunn had appeared on the Nancy Grace show insisting that she had nothing to do with her daughter’s disappearance and has allegedly severed ties with Adkins.

Update:  The remains of Hailey Dunn have been positively identified.
