Las Vegas is known as a hotbed for prostitution activity.
In any casino, both high-end and budget, scores of prostitutes line the casino bars 24/7.
At one time, massage parlors lined every street. Now those businesses have been replaced with foot reflexology clinics with neon “Foot Massage” signs prominently displayed.
Some only open in the wee hours, some run 24/7. Strangely, there never seems to be a line for these business and you have to wonder how they operate 24/7 by only charging $20 for a 45 minute to one hour foot massage.
Perhaps with the increased focus and attention Las Vegas has received as not only a state with an enormous amount of prostitution, but also human trafficking, the Clark County Commissioners have decided they will take a stab at curbing prostitution by tightening regulations for foot reflexology clinics.
Although it is a step in the right direction, their motives have to be questioned.
When the massage parlors were stamped out, they were immediately replaced with the exact same types of businesses with just one additional word added in. Foot.
And it was widely known to anyone that lives in or visits Las Vegas.
The same exact businesses with the same exact clientele were allowed to continue to operate, presumably as long as they paid their fees.
Commissioners claim that when they changed the massage regulations of yesteryear that they were so effective that they are now moving on to the foot industry.
Clark County Commissioner Mary Beth Scow said,
The changes done in massage a few years ago have been so effective that groups carrying on illicit activities have moved to reflexology.
A prime example of a statement made by someone who is completely clueless. Is she kidding? All that was done was shifting and it was widely known shortly after those regulations went into effect that the businesses simply shifted.
How can Scow claim victory?
How can she be proud of that?
It’s very similar to what was undertaken years ago when prostitutes were very visible on the Las Vegas strip plying their trade.
After a mission was undertaken to eradicate the Las Vegas streetwalkers from the strip authorities proclaimed victory in reducing the amount of street prostitutes.
What they didn’t tell the public is that the street prostitutes simply moved to an area just west of the Las Vegas strip where they remain to this day.
That area, located on West Tropicana Avenue from Las Vegas Boulevard to Decatur Boulevard, is now a hotbed for street prostitutes and the area is no longer safe, especially at night.
The new Las Vegas foot reflexology regulations mandate increased licensing fees and the foot reflexology businesses must close at midnight, although there are exceptions that can and will be granted.
Do you think the new Las Vegas foot reflexology regulations will make a difference?
Are the Clark County Commissioners motives truly for the well-being of society or is just another raising money?
