Two pit bull mastiff mix dogs attacked two children in Las Vegas on Wednesday.
The children a girl, 12 and a boy, 5 were both bitten while they were outside their home playing.
The powerful dogs were unleashed and attacked the two children in two separate incidents sending both kids to the hospital.
Apparently the dogs were able to get out of their home located in the Northeast part of the valley near Sandhill Road and Washington Avenue and were running loose.
Neighbors heard screams and one neighbor said he used a golf club in an attempt to stop one of the attacks.
Animal owners have the right to own aggressive, large breed dogs, however, they have to ensure that if their dog is aggressive that the dog is properly and securely contained on their property.
There are far too many instances of dogs attacking people due to irresponsible pet ownership.
Last month two dogs attacked a women in the Northwest area of Cheyenne Avenue and Jones Boulevard.
The dogs involved in that attack were a pit bull and a pit bull mix.
The victim went on record with 8 news to say that the owners had a history of not taking care of their dogs and the dog owners were cited.
The dogs that attacked the two children were taken to the Led Animal Shelter while an investigation is conducted and a decision will be made by Animal Control whether or not the dogs will be returned to the owner.
What does it take to not return the dogs? Is mauling and biting not enough? Must a person die first?
