
The hearing for Sarah Chavez has been postponed until early next year.
Chavez, 22 has been charged with first degree murder in the stabbing death of a female bar patron at Champagne’s Cafe, located across the street from the Boulevard Mall on Maryland Parkway.

Chavez was at the bar on Nov. 12 with her boyfriend.
She became embroiled in an altercation with two woman, who she later claimed, tripped her boyfriend inside the bar.
At one point while still inside the bar, Chavez allegedly became so enraged that she was reportedly choking one of the females that she believed tripped her boyfriend.
The fight escalated after the parties left the bar.
Outside, in the parking lot, Chavez allegedly fatally stabbed one of the women, identified as Misty Madera.
A bar patron followed the the group outside and tried to intervene.
He claimed that Chavez actually reached around him to get at Madera.
He also claimed that he heard Madera say that Chavez had a knife.
By the time police arrived Madera was severely injured and later died at a local hospital.
Chavez had told police that she did not know Madera has been stabbed.
She did admit to carrying a sharp object for protection and ultimately admitted to carrying a knife.
Chavez was initially scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 3.
That date was cancelled and she was then scheduled for to appear this morning.
She did appear, alongside her attorney’s, and a continuation was agreed to by both sides, due to discovery issues.
Chavez is now scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Jan 8, 2014.
She remains incarcerated at the CCDC after being charged with first degree murder with a deadly weapon.
